2020年5月21日，是联合国确定的首个“国际茶日”。在福鼎江滨鼎文化公园，首个国际茶日福建主会场福鼎活动圆满结束，上演一场白茶盛宴。著名演员余少群作为福鼎白茶国际茶日公益形象大使，在活动开始前发微博预祝本次活动圆满成功。“悠然太姥香，白茶韵自长。 预祝5月21日首届国际茶日福鼎会场顺利举办，世界白茶在中国，中国白茶在福鼎！”
据了解，首个“国际茶日”于2019年11月27日第74届联合国大会宣布设立，时间为每年5月21日，以赞美茶叶对经济、社会和文化的价值，是以中国为主的产茶国家首次成功推动设立的农业领域国际性节日。彰显了世界各国对中国茶文化的认可。这将有利于中国同各国茶文化的交融互鉴，推动茶产业的协同发展，共同维护茶农利益。对发展中国家的农村发展、减贫和粮食安全发挥重要作用。
2020年5月21日，是联合国确定的首个“国际茶日”，作为茶叶生产和消费大国，中国愿同各方一道，推动全球茶产业持续健康发展，深化茶文化交融互鉴，让更多的人知茶、爱茶，共品茶香茶韵，共享美好生活。
余少群任福鼎白茶国际茶日公益形象大使
众所周知，中华茶文化源远流长，博大精深。中国是茶的故乡。福鼎白茶更是中国国家地理标志产品。早在隋唐，白茶就已出现。福鼎是“中国白茶之乡”和“中华茶文化之乡”。白茶的自由基含量最低，黄酮含量最高，氨基酸含量平均值高于其他茶类。而且福鼎白茶具有清热祛火的功效，白茶提取物对引起葡萄球菌感染、链球菌感染、肺炎等细菌生长具有预防作用，更是养生的佳品。
陆羽说：“茶味至寒，最宜精行修德之人。”在多数文人骚客心目中，“茶”更是君子。
从“梅兰芳”、到“宁采臣”,从银幕到荧屏,余少群贡献给观众许多经典的谦谦君子形象。余少群曾学习过多年的汉剧、越剧，获得许多戏曲行业的奖项。多年的戏曲学习与演唱让余少群一直对中国传统文化具有浓厚的兴趣，茶、香、愫、禅更是余少群最爱的四件事。他也坦言自己内心最爱的还是传统文化。作为福鼎白茶国际茶日公益形象大使，他表示自己十分开心能把白茶文化推广给更多的人看到。
