10月23日晚，洛杉矶华语电影节(Los Angeles Chinese Film Festival)在洛杉矶市中心的Seven Bar Lounge举办了盛大的媒体预热活动，为即将在11月17-19日举办的2017年度洛杉矶华语电影节宣传造势。活跃在洛杉矶地区的百位影视工作者、制片人、导演、电影学院教授和华语电影爱好者都参与了本次活动，共同见证了洛杉矶华语电影节的成长。
在电影节负责组织审片工作的策展部总监白帆和关天总结了电影节自今年7月1日征片以来取得的成绩。本次电影节共收到416部报名影片，其中长片43部，短片373部，它们来自中国大陆，台湾，香港，马来西亚，美国，加拿大，法国，英国，日本，韩国等22个国家和地区。经过层层评审，7部长片、18部短片成功入围电影节的四个竞赛单元。
随后，电影节在活动中播出了精彩的入围影片预告片合集，让与会者率先体验到了洛杉矶华语电影节年轻、大胆、多元的气质，也让大家对即将在11月到来的电影节更加的期待。
洛杉矶华语电影节的创始人刘钊在采访中强调，影片的质量是入围竞赛单元的唯一衡量标准。电影节希望通过这些影片，展现真实的、多样的华语文化，并为独立影人们搭建一个良好的沟通交流的平台，让优秀的华语独立影片有更多的机会展现在国际舞台上。
电影节联合创始人余淡如表示，希望通过电影节，将华语电影的独立精神和能量传递给更多人，让年轻的电影人有机会在好莱坞发光。
本次电影节的终审评委之一，南加州大学（University of Southern California)教授Stanley Rosen也出席了本次活动，他表示，很荣幸能够出任2017年度洛杉矶华语电影节的终审评委，能看到这么多具有潜力、有想法的年轻电影人是一件让人激动的事，他衷心希望本次电影节能够取得成功。
